Matt Hardy has made a bold prediction regarding the future of Chris Jericho, stating his belief that the former AEW World Champion will return to WWE in 2026 and potentially appear in TNA Wrestling. During the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy discussed reports linking Jericho to a WWE return, agreeing that Jericho’s time in AEW appears to be concluding.
“I just think he’s at that point where his run as feels kind of done in AEW for better or worse, and it just kind of is what it is,” Hardy said. “Chris has always been really good at knowing when it’s time to go somewhere else and, like, freshen up, put a new, fresh coat of paint on, and I think he’s willing to do that.”
Hardy elaborated on how Jericho could be utilized in WWE, suggesting he would be a “massive star” if booked correctly. He noted that while Jericho wouldn’t be signing a long-term deal as a young prospect, his value as a legend and ambassador is immense. Hardy even pitched a potential WrestleMania opponent for Jericho, suggesting a match against rising star Bron Breakker.
Beyond WWE, Hardy predicted that Jericho would leverage the company’s partnership with TNA to make a crossover appearance. Hardy believes this would allow Jericho to “check that off his bucket list” and add to his legacy of having wrestled everywhere.
“If he felt like he could show up on TNA and do something, just a small appearance of sorts, that would help the company and also be boosted, because TNA and WWE or partners know they have a working relationship, I think it’s something he would go for,” Hardy stated.
