TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy has given his seal of approval to WWE Superstar Bayley, who paid tribute to The Hardy Boyz on the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw. During her match against Raquel Rodriguez of The Judgment Day, the former WWE Women’s Champion broke out two of the most iconic moves from the legendary tag team’s arsenal.
Bayley first hit a “Twist of Fate” on Rodriguez on the outside of the ring and later followed it up with a “Swanton Bomb” in the ring for a near fall. After a fan shared a clip of the Twist of Fate on social media, Matt Hardy responded with a one-word review: “Nailed it – DELIGHTFUL!”.
Despite her use of The Hardy Boyz’s signature maneuvers, Bayley was unable to secure the victory. The interference of Roxanne Perez at ringside provided the distraction that allowed Raquel Rodriguez to capitalize and pick up the win. The post-match scene saw a continuation of Bayley’s recent storyline struggles, as both Rodriguez and Perez attacked her before being saved by Lyra Valkyria, a superstar with whom she has had an on-again, off-again friendship in recent months.
The segment ended with both members of The Judgment Day attacking Valkyria, and Bayley then making the save for her friend, indicating a potential reunion of their alliance. The use of The Hardy Boyz’s moves comes at a time when the working relationship between WWE and TNA continues to heat up, making Matt Hardy’s praise for a WWE star particularly noteworthy. The two promotions are currently in the midst of a major invasion angle that is set to end in a special “NXT Invasion” edition of NXT on October 7 at the WWE Performance Center.
The Hardy Boyz, who are the current TNA World Tag Team Champions, have been a central part of TNA’s programming, and Jeff Hardy has previously stated his hope to accomplish new goals in his career – winning the NXT Tag Team Titles.
