Matt Hardy fulfilled his final advertised live event on Saturday night in Corpus Christi, Texas. After the show, he posted a video on his YouTube channel and he took some time to thank everyone that supported him throughout his career.
“There’s been a lot of speculation for quite a while online,” Hardy said. “WWE, fortunately, they let me fulfill all my advertised commitments. But tonight here in Corpus Christi, this was the last advertised commitment I had.”
He added, “Tonight here in Corpus Christi is most likely the last time you will ever see ‘Woken’ Matt Hardy in a WWE ring.”
“I have two young kids and a wife. It’s time for me to go home,” Hardy said when he was asked what is next for him.
In the YouTube description area under the video, Hardy added, “Thank you for letting me live my dream for 26 years, wrestling fans. I don’t necessarily wish it was this way, but it’s time to go home. Time to go home and be a father. Time to go home and be a husband. I did so much more than I ever imagined I would do. Thanks for making this incredible journey with me, ladies and gentlemen. I love you all.”
In recent weeks, he has been working backstage in a producer role. It’s unclear what is next for him but his WWE contract expires in March so, technically, he will be part of WWE at least until that time.
