Matt Hardy has weighed in on the different levels of success that Penta and Rey Fenix have experienced since both arrived in WWE, saying Penta’s emphasis on character and personality is the defining reason he has separated himself from his brother on the roster.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy raised the comparison while discussing the importance of character development in professional wrestling, using it as a real-world example to illustrate a broader point about what separates performers at the top level from those who have not yet broken through.
“I was watching WWE Unreal again, and Penta is someone that was on there, and this is one little sad topic I am going to say,” Hardy said. “I think the reason he has found much more success than Rey Fenix in WWE right now is because he has so much character and so much personality, and he really emphasizes that. And this whole thing about no fear is so great.”
Hardy’s comments come as Penta has become one of the most talked about new arrivals in WWE, quickly establishing himself as a steady act on Raw. Rey Fenix has struggled to gain the same level of traction since making the move from AEW.
Both Penta and Rey Fenix spent several years in AEW before departing for WWE. In AEW, Penta had been a regular fixture as part of the Lucha Brothers tag team alongside Fenix.
