Matt Riddle is finally with WWE. Its been a long and hard road in Riddle’s athletic career. He started off as a mixed martial artist who had a very impressive run with the UFC. Unfortunately, a pair of failed marijuana tests stopped Riddle’s run with the promotion and later ended his fighting career. Then, Riddle decided to transition into a career as a professional wrestler. He quickly established himself as one of the top indy stars in the world.
Despite only having worked for four years, Riddle has been extremely impressive inside the ring. So much so, in fact, that WWE has decided to ink him to a deal. The former EVOLVE Champion was signed by the professional wrestling juggernaut this past summer. WWE made the official announcement during their NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV pay-per-view, introducing Riddle as their newest signee.
He recently made his in-ring NXT debut in Florida. Riddle spoke to “The Main Event” show on ESPN West Palm radio recently. During the interview, Riddle detailed a conversation he had with WWE COO Triple H that motivated him to sign with WWE. Here’s what he had to say:
“I actually got a direct call from are main man ‘Trips’, Mr. Triple H, Paul Levesque,” Riddle said. “It was good. About three years ago I was about to get signed and we talked about that because I was supposed to possibly get signed then and it didn’t happen. We talked about that. He’s like ‘we got good intentions’, made me feel good with working with NXT and working with him. Honestly, that’s why I signed up and we’ll see where it takes me.”
