Matt Riddle did an interview with The Sun to talk about a wide range of topics including an interesting opinion from Booker T.
The WWE Hall of Famer recently spoke not only on last week’s episode of WWE Backstage on FS1 but also in a video on his YouTube channel about how he thinks Riddle should wear boots or shoes while wrestling.
Riddle has wrestled barefoot since he broke into the pro wrestling business after competing as a pro-MMA fighter.
In this interview, Riddle reassured fans that he won’t change his signature barefoot-style now that he’s been called up to the main roster and placed on Friday Night SmackDown.
“I don’t know what’s up with this guy. He’s always got something to say. I’m not gonna wear shoes. I’ve been doing this stuff for a long time now, been doing it barefoot, pretty successful. I’m not saying there isn’t a toe injury out there. That could happen.”
Riddle continued by noting that at the same time, someone could say the same thing about his hands as he doesn’t wear gloves nor a mouthpiece and could lose a tooth as a result.
He noted that it’s pro wrestling and a crazy live show so anything can happen. Whether that be stubbing his toe, twisting his ankle, or breaking a finger. He noted that he’s lost a couple of teeth already because things happen in the ring.
“You know, so, I mean (Booker), I respect you. But I’m probably still not gonna wear shoes bro. I’m sorry.”
Riddle also talked about Conor McGregor and more. You can check out the full interview here.
