Mick Foley came to the defense of Nia Jax while doing an interview with Alex McCarthy of TalkSport.
During her time in WWE, the former Raw Women’s Champion has been part of a few spots that fans thought were unsafe. Her recent encounters with Kairi Sane on episodes of Raw have come under fire from fans.
Jax botched a powerbomb into the turnbuckle and the most recent incident came when Jax tossed Sane into the ring steps that resulted in Sane going head first and being busted open.
According to the WWE Hall of Famer, he considers Jax a very good worker and a great character.
“I remember when there was criticism of Seth Rollins and the buckle bomb is a dangerous move. A gash? Man, if I had to start blaming every person who created a gash on my head I wouldn’t be able to work with anybody!
There’s always timing issues when it comes to making something look real. You don’t want to be putting your hands down so quickly to take away from the realism etc. I don’t think that’s a fair mark against Nia Jax. Nia is a very good worker and a great character.”
Foley then put over Jax’s match with Asuka for the title at Backlash where he noted that he thinks Jax will play off Asuka very well. He added that fans haven’t seen Asuka be a babyface often but thinks she’ll take to it and it’ll be a very good match.
Jax recently addressed her critics over this same subject, which you can check out here.
Foley also talked about WWE billing Edge vs. Randy Orton at the Backlash pay-per-view event as the greatest wrestling match ever, Drew McIntyre, and more. You can check out the full interview here.
