WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has deleted/deactivated his Twitter account. There was no reason given but it could be related to Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media network.
Back in April, after reports that Elon Musk was looking at buying the platform, Foley tweeted the following:
“I’ll be giving some serious thought to leaving @Twitter for good in the near future. I do not have a good feeling about where this platform is heading.”
Foley was one of the most active veteran wrestler accounts on the service. He regularly interacted with fans and would comment on current wrestling topics and was always actively promoting different charities.
Foley and several other prominent names on Twitter have threatened to leave the service because of concern about Musk potentially opening the floodgates to allow hateful speech and to lift the bans on prominent figures who spread misinformation and divisive rhetoric.
Musk announced today that a content moderation council will be formed soon.
Musk tweeted the following:
“Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.
No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes.”
