WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley revealed in a recent interview with NewsItem.com that the reason that his reality show “Holy Foley” will be airing on the WWE Network is because of Vince McMahon stumbling upon the sizzle reel/pilot concept.
“It kind of came out of nowhere. Many opportunities don’t come to fruition for one reason or another. The pilot, or sizzle reel as they call it, was actually found by Vince, and when he saw it, he loved it. We already have a core audience with the network, and I have no doubt that if people give it a try, they will enjoy it. “WWE is really excited about the project. We have our core audience of wrestling fans, but this is the first of the network’s original programming directed at the general public.”
Foley also noted that there will be several wrestlers appearing on the show as well as appearances by celebrities like Dee Snider.
“There’s not a lot of writing, mostly setting up scenarios where we react more than act. I am actually enjoying it more than some of the acting experiences I have had,” Foley said. “And even heavy metal legend Dee Snyder stops by to give a singing lesson on one episode.”
The 10-episode, 30-minute family reality series is slated to premiere in August 2016.
