Ahead of Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Mickie James spoke with the Under The Ring podcast. James talking about wrestling IMPACT Knockouts Champion Trinity at the PPV on October 21st:
“I am challenging, obviously Trinity, for the Knockouts World Championship, a championship that I actually never lost and that I had to relinquish due to injury. So there’s so many factors going into it. Obviously, I’m so excited. I think for the first time ever, this is the first time ever, Trinity and I have ever been in the ring together in a singles match. We’ve had plenty of six women tag matches, eight women, or Battle Royal style matches, but never one on one, so I’m super excited for the opportunity to be in the ring with her. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I know that she’s going to bring her A-game and I intend to do the same. I’m super excited about it. I think the fans are really excited about it. Obviously, Chicago is sold out, so that’s amazing. I’m proud to hear it sold out. It makes me happy. I think it’s a new challenge. I have never been in the ring with Trinity, obviously, so I don’t really know what to expect except for explosion. She’s very dynamic, she’s very explosive, and unpredictable, so that’s why I say I don’t know what to expect, but I think it’s going to be a great match. I hope to win the match because I would love nothing more than to win back the championship I never lost, but at the end of the day, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s going to be a great match and I know the best woman is going to win.”
On Nick Aldis becoming the General Manager of WWE SmackDown:
“I can’t tell you how excited I am for Nick. He’s worked a really, really long time and there’s been opportunities that, you know, perhaps he thought it would never happen or we thought it would may never happen and you know, just different things along the way and I feel like it’s his time now and I’m so grateful that he’s finally gotten an opportunity. I know he’s going to kill it. He’s so great on the microphone as it is, but I think this GM role is perfect because he can be cocky and people can love him or they can hate them. I’m so excited for him and he deserves it more than the world. I was crying when we got the news and I’d been waiting obviously for the news to come out and was trying to keep it as much as a secret as possible so it was a big surprise, but yeah, it’s amazing and it’s amazing to see him finally living the dream and living in his dream. We’re obviously a couple and we are a team, but I’ve had so many opportunities and so many amazing things in my career, and, you know, I feel like a lot of people don’t even know how good he is and now they’re going to see.”
