Mickie James returning to WWE

Former WWE Women's Champion Mickie James will be returning to WWE. At Thursday night's NXT tapings, it was announced that James would be facing Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto, presumably for the NXT Women's Championship. James appeared on the big screen while Asuka was in the ring and made the announcement. This would be James' first appearance in a WWE ring since her departure in 2010.

She did come in for guest coaching spots a couple of years ago at the Performance Center but the company did not sign her at the time. James has said in interviews that she would welcome an opportunity to work in a backstage capacity with WWE so the doors may have been opened for her thanks to Triple H and NXT. James is a 5-time WWE Women's Champion, 1-time WWE Divas Champion and a 3-time TNA Knockouts Champion.

Also, as noted earlier, Shinsuke Nakamura will be defending the NXT Championship against Samoa Joe at Takeover and Bobby Roode will be face Tye Dillinger.
