As noted on Tuesday night, WWE did an angle with Mike Kanellis “quitting” 205 Live after he lost a match to Jack Gallagher. Kanellis, who recently signed a long-term deal to stay with the company, declared that he was done and implied that his new deal was a mistake. After the match, he walked out of the arena through the crowd instead of walking to the backstage area. The announcers wondered if he was quitting the company.
Obviously, this is an angle and it looks like he might be getting repackaged with a bigger push. As part of the angle, Kanellis has changed his name back to Mike Bennett on Twitter and his first tweet since the name change simply reads “freedom.”

It will be interesting to see what’s next for him. The new deal should mean that they have plans for him and there could be some hope for him now that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff are being put in charge of Raw and SmackDown Live.
