The Miz Calls Snoop Dogg The “Consummate Pro” For Saving WrestleMania 39 Segment

Former WWE Champion The Miz has shared the chaotic, behind-the-scenes story of his infamous impromptu match against Snoop Dogg at WrestleMania 39, explaining what happened after Shane McMahon suffered a legitimate, match-ending injury.

The Miz Recalls The Shane McMahon Injury

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, The Miz recounted the moment Shane McMahon, who was his surprise opponent on Night Two, tore his quads on a leapfrog spot just seconds into their match. He explained how he had to take control of the situation as the veteran in the ring.

“I know when he goes down, I’m like, ‘All right, he’s injured.’ The camera’s going to be on me because we don’t like showing real injuries on there,” The Miz said. “So, the red light is on me. Now, I have to basically relay to a referee kind of what to do to the truck.“

Praising Snoop Dogg As The ‘Consummate Pro’

The Miz said he was trying to tell the referee to play someone’s music and get a new opponent out, and even suggested Snoop Dogg could hit him with an elbow. Before that could be relayed, the hip-hop legend took matters into his own hands. “All of a sudden I turn around and Snoop Dogg sucker punches me. And I’m like, ‘That’s even better,'” he recalled.

Snoop Dogg then delivered his version of The People’s Elbow and pinned The Miz to save the segment. The Miz had high praise for how the celebrity handled the unexpected situation. “Snoop Dogg isn’t a professional wrestler. He doesn’t do this for a living, but he’s the consummate pro,” The Miz stated. “I mean, if there is a celebrity that I would trust to do something like that that has no prior training, it is Snoop Dogg.” He added that the segment was so seamless that his wife, Maryse, thought it was all part of the plan.
