The Miz: Je’Von Evans ‘Can Be Something Really Special In This Business’

WWE veteran The Miz has identified a new rising star who he believes possesses unlimited potential within the company. During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, The Miz heaped praise on 21-year-old Je’Von Evans, describing him as a “truly special” talent who could define the next generation.

The two faced off on the December 12 episode of SmackDown, where Evans scored what WWE commentary referred to as the biggest win of his career by defeating the former WWE Champion. The experience left a lasting impression on The Miz. “So we have to really make this kid, because he’s special. He truly is. If you’ve watched him and you feel his energy, the kid has an infectious smile,” Miz said. “He’s got charisma, he’s got the ability — and he’s young. He’s young. I was like, ‘Man, this kid’s 21? Imagine what he’s going to be like when he’s 25.’ He might be bored because he’s so good at this age.”

Miz noted that Evans’ trajectory depends largely on his ability to stay healthy and focused. “I was like, man, if this kid can keep elevating himself, keep getting bigger, keep just focusing, locking in, don’t mess up, don’t get injured. This kid can be something really special in this business,” he added.

The 45-year-old veteran also shared his wish that WWE still ran a robust live event schedule to help develop young stars like Evans. He noted that house shows were traditionally where talent gained the critical experience needed to refine their craft away from the television cameras.

Since his victory over The Miz, Evans has officially joined the Raw roster following a call-up from NXT. He continued his momentum on this week’s episode in Germany, defeating Bravo Americano (Tyler Bate) with an OG Cutter in his debut match as a red brand superstar. However, the celebration was short-lived as he was attacked by the Americanos faction shortly after the bell.
