The “then, now, forever” at the start of the show is now shown with the new company logo.
They showed a recap from last night’s SummerSlam.
Opening segment – Stephanie McMahon came out to Daniel Bryan’s music. She talked about Rollins defeating Ambrose, Jericho losing, and wished Cena well after the beating he took. She said the biggest loser of the night was Brie Bella. She said you could relive her incredible victory for just $9.99. She publicly thanked Triple H. She then introduced Nikki Bella. Nikki said that Brie betrayed her and it was supposed to be the Bella Twins against the world. Nikki said she’s always been there, cared for her, and loved her, but secretly she didn’t become the woman that she wanted her to be because Brie is selfish and it’s always been about Brie. As kids Brie always competed with her and always wanted to be better. She said that Brie competed with her to be the first to get married. Nikki called Daniel Bryan “scraggely” and “goat faced. She said that Brie weaseled her way into a match with Steph. Nikki said she’s heartbroken over the situation. Nikki says that now she stands tall on her own two feet. She said that she never had a sister. Brie Bella came out. Nikki asked why. She said “I love you, we are sisters for life.” She said she could forgive Nikki. Nikki slapped Brie. Nikki said she’d never forgive Brie. Brie walked off crying.
There will be a World Heavyweight Championship Presentation later tonight. They have new graphics and new Raw music with the WWE logo.
Erick Rowan and Luke Harper vs. Big Show and Mark Henry – It was a decent match. Rowan actually slammed Big Show towards the end of the match. Harper took out Big Show. Henry hit the Worlds Strongest Slam but Rowan broke it up. Show got back in and hit the knockout punch on Harper and Rowan. Henry got the pin on Rowan. They are being groomed for a tag title storyline.
Ric Flair wishes Dolph Ziggler tonight in his rematch with Miz tonight. Miz said that Dolph is not worthy and it comes back “home” to an a-lister. Dolph said that Miz is not an a-lister…he’s just an a-hole.
They showed still shots of Rollins vs. Ambrose from SummerSlam.
Renee Young interviewed Seth Rollins. Rollins said that he didn’t run or hide last night and he did exactly what he said he’d do and he proved that he’s the future champion and he’s the future of the entire WWE. Ambrose dumped water on him “for charity” and then attacked him. Officials broke it up.
Rollins complained to Triple H and Kane. Triple H said that he will have a rematch with Ambrose. The WWE Universe will decide the stipulation because the blood will be on the Universe’s hands.
Natalya vs. Paige – Paige said that despite everything, she respects AJ and she loves AJ. She said that tonight she dedicates the match to her little AJ. During the match AJ Lee’s music played and AJ came down and skipped around the ring. The distraction allowed Natalya to roll up Paige and get the win. It was a non-title match. AJ grabbed the microphone and said that despite everything she respects Paige and she loves Paige and she dedicates her life to Paige. AJ said that she needs to get in the ring and shake Paige’s hand. Paige rolled out of the ring right away and walked up the ramp. Fans changed for “CM Punk.”
They announced the three stipulations that the fans can vote on for Ambrose vs. Rollins tonight:
A) No Holds Barred
B) Falls Count Anywhere
C) No Disqualification
They aired a WWE Network commercial.
Brock Lesnar Championship Presentation – Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out. Triple H said that it’s a historic night after the greatest SummerSlam in the history of WWE. Triple H revealed the new WWE World Heavyweight title. It’s basically the same belt with the new logo on it. Triple H then introduced Brock Lesnar (accompanied by Paul Heyman). They had a photographer for the photo op. Triple H and Steph left the ring. Fans chanted “thank you Lesnar.” Paul Heyman cut a promo… “my name is Paul Heyman and I’m the one behind the one who conquered the one who he thought he was the one who beat the one in 21 and 1.” He said that last night at SummerSlam Brock didn’t just beat and victimize…he conquered the title holder which affords Paul Heyman to proclaim himself as the advocate for the reigning, undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion of the World Brock Lesnar. Heyman revealed that John Cena is not in the arena this evening. He said that Cena can’t be in the arena because he can’t physically appear because of his client Brock Lesnar. Paul said that he’s never seen a superstar take an ass kicking like John Cena did last night at the hands of Brock Lesnar. He said that Rock was on top for 3 years. Austin was on top for 4 or 4 and a half years. He said that there’s been one constant…one man for 10 years and that man has been John Cena. He said that any man would have turned the title over after 30 seconds but not John Cena. He said that as he saw the suffering on John Cena’s face that he truly understood why people loved John Cena. He understood because Cena kept coming back for more. He said that Cena says “never give up” he means it. He said that Cena has earned his respect and if he had time on his hands he’d make him a Paul Heyman Guy. He said if they wrote the history of WWE before last night then Cena would be the greatest fighting champion in WWE history but unfortunately Brock doesn’t share that opinion. In Brock’s universe street cred doesn’t apply. He said “he who dies with the most street cred still dies at the hands of Brock Lesnar” just like The Undertaker’s undefeated streak and career died at the hands of Brock Lesnar and just like the stupid concept of “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” and “Cenation” died and was conquered by Brock Lesnar. He said that the same thing awaits any man that tries to take the title from Brock. He said that it’s almost an unfair fight to begin with because whoever tries is just a man and Brock is THE BEAST and this beast will lay wreckage to any man that tries to take the title from him. He said that every title defense will be MUST SEE and CAN’T MISS. He said that if you’re too blind, cheap, or ignorant to spend $9.99 then he’ll tell everyone what happened last night. He said Brock imposed his will. SUPLEX…REPEAT is what happened last night. He repeated that a bunch of times. SUPLEX…REPEAT…SUPLEX…REPEAT. EAT…SLEEP…SUPLEX..f5…VICTIMIZE…BEAT…CONQUER…REPEAT. Another amazing promo by Paul Heyman.
They recapped the Bella Twins angle from earlier tonight.
Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz (Intercontinental title) – Ziggler was favoring his left knee like he did last night. Late in the match Miz got the figure four but Ziggler made it to the ropes. Ziggler ended up losing the match after getting counted out. JBL said Miz got screwed. Ziggler is still IC champ. Miz was not happy so he attacked Ziggler by the announce table. Ziggler got the Zig Zag on the Miz in the ring though and raised the title up in the air.
Renee interviewed Jack Swagger backstage. Swagger said that he failed last night but when things get hard we come together…we the people. He said we unite and grow stronger…we the people. He said that he’s not gonna give up and he’ll come up swinging because that’s “we the people.”
Jack Swagger vs. Cesaro – Zeb Colter is not at ringside because of last night’s attack on him. Swagger’s ribs are taped. JBL really was rubbing it in on commentary and says that he doesn’t think he’ll ever forgive Jack Swagger. Cesaro won with the neutralizer. Then Bo Dallas came out and said “three hundred and eighteen million..thats how many Americans that were let down at SummerSlam when you lost that flag match to Rusev. Look at you now losing again. You’ve lost your manager Zeb Colter. You’ve lost all self respect. You’ve lost your dignity. But you can get it all back. You can get it allll back. You just have to BO-LIEVE!!!!”
They showed highlights of Jericho/Wyatt from last night.
Renee interviewed Chris Jericho. Jericho said that he realized that even after facing dozens of Hall of Famers, he’s never faced anyone like Bray Wyatt. He also noticed that there’s an emptiness in Bray’s eyes and he cares about nothing and he’s dead inside. Jericho said he’s not dead inside. He said he has the fire inside that pushes him to be the best..the fighting spirit.. and the best fans in WWE history and he knows that every Jerichoholic will have his back no matter what he does chanting “Y2J, Y2J, Y2J” no matter what he does and that’s something that Bray will never ever take away from him.
They showed the WWE 2K commercial with Sting.
Rybaxel and Randy Orton vs. Sheamus, RVD, and Roman Reigns – good match. Fans were chanting “we want Ryback” and “feed me more” since it’s his hometown. Ryback got a huge pop when he tagged in and beat up on Sheamus. Sheamus has his right leg wrapped. Later in the match Reigns hit superman punches and RVD hit a crossbody on Axel. He also hit a split leg moonsault. Orton hit a RKO on Sheamus. Reigns hit the spear on Orton. RVD hit the frog splash on Axel for the win.
They recapped the Ambrose/Rollins backstage segment from earlier.
Backstage, Flair talks to Orton. Orton told Flair to stay out of his way unless he wants to know why he used to be called the Legend Killer. Then they cut to Bray backstage in a dark part of the arena. He cut a promo too. Basically he said that he warned Jericho and he’s a man of his word. He said that maybe his place is to collect souls and Chris will never be able to comprehend what he is. He said “behold, the new face of salvation…follow the buzzards.”
They replayed the Bella twins segment…again.
The Usos vs. Goldust and Stardust – Pretty solid match. Stardust won with the rollup. It was a non-title match though.
Rusev/Henry segment – Rusev came out. Lana cut a promo. Mark Henry interrupted the promo. He said the “USA” chants are American pride. He said that he represented America twice in the Olympic games. He said that he’s never had a problem with anyone, their country, beliefs, and their flags, except “the way you two jackasses do it.” He said last night it got under his skin to see that flag raised in his country. He said it made him sick to his stomach. He yelled at Lana and told her he’s not talking to her. Mark said that the power in America is not gone. He said that he will give Rusev a personal guided tour into the Hall of Pain. They faced off. Rusev punched Henry but Henry fought back. Rusev went for the kick but Henry caught him with the worlds strongest slam. He then splashed Rusev. Henry then high fived the announcers.
They plugged the network and showed a teaser for the documentary on The Shield’s road to SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose – the fans chose Falls Count Anywhere as the stipulation. About a minute into the match they already started fighting in the crowd and then the Raw stage area. When they got back into the ring Ambrose used a chair and used it on Rollins. He slammed him on the chair and then jumped off the second rope with the chair in hand. During the break Rollins got a kendo stick and used it. The match got really heated towards the end. Ambrose brought in a bunch of chairs in the ring. Rollins hit a nasty looking sitdown powerbomb on Ambrose onto a stack of chairs. They set up a table in the ring. Ambrose suplexed Rollins from the top rope through a table. Really really good match. Kane is sitting at ringside. Ambrose dove onto the outside to Kane and Rollins and took them out. Ambrose took out Kane after Kane tried to get involved. Ambrose went for Dirty Deeds on the announcers table but Kane got up and chokeslammed Ambrose. Rollins hit the curb stomp on the table on Ambrose. Kane removed a table. Under the table it was revealed to be cylinder blocks. Rollins did a curb stomp on Ambrose through the cinder blocks. The blocks broke and the referee called for the bell because Rollins went too far. Seth Rollins was announced as the winner due to ref stoppage. The EMT’s came out to help Ambrose. Rollins stood on the table looking down on Ambrose.
