Despite the #CancelWWENetwork hashtag trending on twitter late Sunday into Monday, WWE had a huge day yesterday. The company reached 1 million subscribers sometime yesterday or early today. There were some people that did cancel their subscriptions but it wasn’t anything that was significant.
I speculated yesterday that the reaction from fans to the show could have actually helped them get more subscribers to sign up out of curiosity. Also, WWE credited the free November trial month with helping them get much closer to the 1 million mark.
As noted over the weekend, the company was planning on doing another free month in February. It has not been announced yet so they could change their mind but I would think that if November was so successful then they would go ahead with the free February. The next couple of months should see a rush of sign ups from fans wanting to subscribe for WrestleMania.
Company officials were said to be happy with the network sign ups yesterday.
