More on John Cena taking time off from WWE, TELE 5 not renewing RAW

– As noted, John Cena will be taking time off from WWE to film the second season of his FOX TV series, American Grit, in mid-October. Cena has reduced his role in WWE as he only works selected live events, episodes of SmackDown Live and pay-per-view events.

He is advertised for all of the episodes of SmackDown Live leading up to the No Mercy PPV. Cena is scheduled to wrestle AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title at the PPV event on October 9th and the last SmackDown Live that he is advertised for is the October 11th edition at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA. Cena is also advertised for the November 20th Survivor Series pay-per-view but is not advertised for any other shows after that until late December for WWE’s holiday tour.

– WWE will be losing its German television partner starting next year. TELE 5 announced on Tuesday that when their contract with WWE ends in March of 2017 they will not be renewing its deal to air RAW. It should be noted that WWE pulls in strong ratings in Germany. As of this writing, there’s no word on where RAW will air in the country once their deal with TELE 5 expires.
