As noted on Tuesday, WWE apologized for the angle on Monday where Big Show pulled down the Russian flag into the ring. WWE’s statement was, “We at WWE would like to apologize to the Russian people for the incident on Monday Night Raw that could have been construed as disrespect for their nation’s flag.”
Apparently the company received criticism (possibly from their Russian broadcasting partners) and had to issue the public apoology. They also had Big Show issue an apology at the Smackdown taping. Considering that the company doesn’t like having to apologize, it would seem that they caught some heat for what they did.
Speaking of Rusev, there is now talk of putting Rusev in a feud with Sheamus for the U.S. title after Rusev’s storyline with Big Show is over. The idea they have is for Rusev to win the title and then brag about being United States champion.
