Mr. Kennedy delved into his experience during the 2008 Signature Pharmacy scandal that rocked WWE, offering his side of the story on “Insight With Chris Van Vliet.” Kennedy recounted being abruptly summoned to WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, unsure of the reason until he saw other wrestlers like Chavo Guerrero and Funaki also present.
“Edge was the first guy to go in…he came back out and he goes, ‘I can’t say anything. It’s not good,'” Kennedy recalled. When his turn came, he learned it was about the Signature Pharmacy investigation. Kennedy explained that after WWE instituted its Wellness Policy, many wrestlers who had been using PEDs had to stop “cold turkey,” leading to physical decline while maintaining a grueling schedule.
“We asked what can we do? Hey, as long as you go and get a prescription, a doctor’s prescription, you’re good,” Kennedy said. “So that’s what I did… I had blood work done. The doctor prescribed me these things, and I started taking them.”
Crucially, Kennedy stated, “I didn’t even fail a test. It was just because my name was attached to this thing.” The issue, as explained to him by Vince McMahon, was a specific clause in the Wellness Policy: “You can’t have an online pharmacy fill your [prescription].” Kennedy claimed ignorance, stating, “I didn’t know that. My doctor filled it, he was using an online pharmacy.”
