MVP cut off by Kevin Dunn at WWE Backlash tapings, Otis and Baron Corbin told to reshoot part of their match

Wrestling Inc. reported today that WWE taped the Backlash pay-per-view earlier this morning/afternoon at the Performance Center, just hours before the NXT TakeOver: In Your House show at Full Sail University.

Raj Giri had an interesting note on a correction that was made while MVP was speaking during his segment.

Giri noted that MVP referred to the “fans” as “NXT Superstars” during a promo but he was cut off by Kevin Dunn on the P.A. system and was told that he was to refer to them as “Performance Center recruits.”

This ignores the fact that there are some wrestlers there who have appeared on NXT TV so it is baffling to hear some of those wrestlers being treated as trainees, especially when Triple H has said in interviews that NXT wrestlers are no longer developmental and they are now considered to be on the level of the Raw and SmackDown stars.

Another note from the tapings is that they had to reshoot part of the match between Otis and Baron Corbin because they wanted to take four spine busters from Corbin.

If news gets out from the tapings, we’ll post updates here. Following Backlash and TakeOver, WWE will resume taping the next 2 weeks of Raw and SmackDown. Those shows will be taped over the course of the next couple of days.
