Mya Lesnar Wins NCAA Shot Put National Championship

Mya Lesnar, a standout track and field athlete for Colorado State and the daughter of WWE and UFC legend Brock Lesnar, has captured the Division I shot put national title at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Her victory marks the first outdoor national championship for the Colorado State Rams since 2005, when Loree Smith won the hammer throw.

Lesnar delivered a dominant performance to secure the championship. Her top throw measured an impressive 62 feet, 4 1/2 inches. She established her advantage early in the competition, launching a throw of more than 60 feet on her first attempt. Her dominance was so clear that her second-best throw of the day, 61 feet, 11 inches, was still greater than the top mark of the second-place finisher, Abria Smith of Illinois, who recorded a throw of 61 feet, 10 1/4 inches.

This outdoor national title is the latest major achievement in what has been a period of remarkable success for Lesnar. She entered the NCAA Championships ranked No. 1 in the nation and adds this outdoor championship to the national title she won in the shot put during the 2024 NCAA indoor track and field season.

Lesnar, who spent her first two collegiate seasons at Arizona State before transferring to Colorado State, has consistently improved since joining the Rams. In 2023, she won the weight throw at the Mountain West Indoor Championships with a personal best. Since then, as the provided report notes, she has “perfected her craft to become one of the top shot putters in the nation.”

Her talent has also been on display on the international stage. Lesnar competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she finished in sixth place with a throw that matched her NCAA-winning mark of 62 feet, 4 1/2 inches. Highlighting her continued progression, her personal best throw in 2025 of 64 feet, 3 3/4 inches would have been enough to place her on the medal stand at those 2024 games, indicating a bright future as she builds her own powerful legacy in the world of track and field.
