NBC Sports Network shutting down, sporting events like NHL and NASCAR moving to USA Network could have a major impact on WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite

According to multiple reports, NBC Sports Network (owned by NBCUniversal) is shutting down and sports properties like the NHL and NASCAR are expected to move to the USA Network. This could have a big impact on WWE NXT since many of the NHL games on NBCSN air on Wednesday nights.

NBCUniversal is telling the sports leagues that their ratings should go up once they are on USA. Of course, just as this is a big deal for WWE, this is also a big deal for All Elite Wrestling.

In theory, AEW ratings should go up without NXT competition. It is widely believed that NXT was moved to USA to counter AEW and keep their ratings down to a certain level so that they have less leverage when it comes time to negotiate a new TV deal/extension with TNT.

We’ll have more on this story when we hear more. There is no word yet on the exact date when NBCSU will be shutting down.
