There appears to be some fallout from today’s Wall Street Journal story on Vince McMahon.
Denise Salcedo is reporting that Netflix’s documentary on McMahon has been pulled. It was also stated to her via a source that the project was already in “deep” post-production and talent interviews were done months ago. Obviously, a lot of money will be lost on this project.
Stephanie McMahon stated last December that the documentary was going to be released this year. In 2020, Nick Khan described the doc as “one of the highest budgeted documentaries in Netflix history.”
Here is what Salcedo stated on Twitter:
“Sources tell me that the Vince McMahon Netflix documentary has been pulled & is off the programming spreadsheet at Netflix. A source at Netflix confirmed it no longer being listed on their spreadsheet, another source at Netflix said “that sh*t’s out of here.”
“Another source indicated that the project was already “deep” in post-production & that several talent interviews had been done months ago & that millions were spent. I spoke to one of the producers on the project, however they declined to confirm nor deny this story to me.”
It remains to be seen if a ripple effect comes from this with other WWE-related partners reconsidering their relationship with the company or if this is the only fallout from the scandal.
