Netflix has released the official trailer for Hulk Hogan: Real American, confirming that the documentary will premiere on April 22 and feature the final recorded interview with Terry Bollea, who passed away in July 2025.
The trailer was released on today and offers the first look at a project that promises to explore both the celebrated highs and the more complicated chapters of Hogan’s extraordinary life. The opening line of the trailer establishes the reflective tone of the entire documentary. “In wrestling, you should be remembered from all the wars you had and everything you’ve done,” Hogan says.
From there, Hogan addresses the polarizing nature of his legacy directly, acknowledging that his story has drawn both passionate support and fierce criticism throughout his decades in the public eye. “Some people hate me, but I think people are going to know the truth. Who was this guy, really?” Hogan says in the trailer.
The footage blends archival material with more intimate personal moments, tracing his journey from childhood to his rise as the most recognizable name in professional wrestling history. Iconic career moments, including his WrestleMania III match with Andre the Giant and his WrestleMania X8 showdown with The Rock, are revisited, though the trailer suggests the documentary will go beyond career highlights. References to a possible sinister side tied to his success hint that the project will engage with the more controversial aspects of his story.
Near the end of the trailer, Hogan offers a more uncertain reflection on how his story ultimately ends. The documentary will also feature interviews with Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Jimmy Hart, and Linda Hogan, among others.
