Last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw opened up with a terrible revelation. Top WWE star Roman Reigns opened up the show by making his way to the ring to deliver some heartbreaking news to the WWE Universe. “The Big Dog” announced that he has been battling leukemia for the past 11 years, and unfortunately, it has returned once again.
Reigns relinquished his WWE Universal Title and said farewell to the WWE world – for now. He was also adamant that he wasn’t delivering a retirement speech, he vowed to beat leukemia and return to his home inside the squared circle soon enough. Immediately after the segment, an outpour of emotion and support came for Reigns by way of social media.
Even non-WWE personnel have shown their support for the now-former Universal Champion. Recently, New Japan Pro Wrestling issued out a Tweet and wished good luck to Reigns and a speedy recovery. Here’s what they had to say:
“A champion transcends any company.
@WWERomanReigns, on behalf of NJPW we all wish you a speedy recovery.”
