WWE will continue its King and Queen of the Ring tournaments on the June 13th episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Three first-round qualifying matches are scheduled for the show, which takes place at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. The winners will advance to the semi-final round of their respective tournaments.
The sixteen-person tournaments feature a first round comprised of fatal four-way matches. The stakes are high, as past King of the Ring winners have often used the victory to launch themselves into the main event picture. On Monday’s episode of Raw, Sami Zayn and Roxanne Perez became the first two wrestlers to advance to the semi-finals.
Tonight’s scheduled qualifying matches for SmackDown are:
King of the Ring: Randy Orton vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar
King of the Ring: Cody Rhodes vs. Andrade vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Damian Priest
Queen of the Ring: Charlotte Flair vs. Chelsea Green vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Candice LeRae
The finals of both the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will be held at the Night of Champions premium live event. The event is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, June 28th.
The broadcast has also advertised appearances by John Cena, Naomi, and Jacob Fatu. You can read about potential spoilers for the show here and here.
