As announced during the opening segment of Monday Night Raw, Daniel Bryan (Smackdown) and Mick Foley (Raw) will be the General Managers for their respective brands. Stephanie announced that she will be launching a Cruiserweight division that will be exclusive to Raw.
Bryan makes his return to main WWE programming after announcing his retirement from WWE back in February due to concussion issues. For those of you that subscribe to the WWE Network, then you have probably heard him on commentary with Mauro Ranallo on the Cruiserweight Classic.
Foley had a run as Commissioner in 2000 and 2001 and this is his first time back in a full-time role in many years. During the opening segment, Foley said that he sees the same competitiveness that existed during the Attitude era and he is here to take Raw into the future and beyond.
Bryan said that Shane McMahon called him about the battle lines being drawn and the changes he wants to make to the brand. He said that he, just like Smackdown, has always been the underdog and he believes that Smackdown can beat Raw every single week.
I was told that Shane McMahon will not be on every Smackdown and there are still questions regarding his long-term future with the company. At last word, he does not hold an executive title with the company and he is strictly an on-air performer.
