A documentary centered around WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is nearing its premiere, according to the latest reports. WrestleVotes Radio on FightfulSelect.com reports that the project is close to release and will feature several new interviews with his peers and former rivals. While the documentary does not yet have an official release date, WWE has completed a full-length feature on Michaels that will dive deep into his career and achievements.
Michaels currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative in WWE NXT. He has previously shared apperication for his role in developmental, noting that the unique mission of NXT is to create stars specifically to lose them to the main roster. The documentary is expected to cover his transition from an active performer to his current executive position.
Last month, during an interview with Justin Barrasso of The Undisputed, AJ Styles opened up about never having a match against Michaels and how the opportunity to learn from him would have been “priceless.” Styles, who recently lost a career-on-the-line match to GUNTHER at the 2026 Royal Rumble, emphasized his desire to work with Michaels in some capacity moving forward.
“The thing that I regret the most about not being able to get in the ring with Shawn Michaels is the opportunity to learn from him. That would have been priceless. It just wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to work together in some capacity, whether it’s developing talent or just helping the brand get better altogether,” Styles said.
People within WWE reportedly believe that Styles is not done wrestling in some capacity despite his recent loss. Styles has teased a potential return, mentioning the possibility of tagging with his son in the future. Current plans for Michaels involve overseeing the upcoming NXT Stand & Deliver event during WrestleMania 42 weekend, where several of his proteges are expected to be featured.
