New Stipulation Added For Undisputed WWE Title Match At Saturday Night’s Main Event

During a tense contract signing for their Undisputed WWE Championship match, Cody Rhodes made a stunning concession to challenger Drew McIntyre. After being goaded by McIntyre, Rhodes has agreed to a new stipulation: he can now lose his championship via disqualification or count-out.The segment, hosted by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, was set to finalize the title match for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event premium live event.

McIntyre Calls Out ‘One-Sided’ Contract

The signing immediately hit a snag when Drew McIntyre refused to sign the contract, calling it “completely one-sided.” This comes just two weeks after an impromptu match on SmackDown where an emotional Cody Rhodes struck McIntyre with the championship belt, getting himself disqualified but retaining the title, as a championship traditionally does not change hands on a DQ.

McIntyre specifically pointed to this champion’s advantage, noting the clause that stated Cody would keep the title if he gets counted out or disqualified.

Cody Rhodes Makes a Bold Concession

Nick Aldis, growing impatient, told Drew that if he didn’t want to sign the contract, Aldis would “get somebody from the back that will be glad to sign it.” McIntyre called his bluff and began to get up to leave.

This prompted Cody Rhodes to stop him. Rhodes, grabbing the contract he had already signed, declared that he would agree to Drew’s terms. “I am not looking for an easy way out with him,” Cody stated, agreeing to waive the champion’s advantage.

With this change, if Cody Rhodes is counted out or disqualified, he will lose the Undisputed WWE Championship. Drew McIntyre said he was “okay with that.” Aldis, however, was not, stating, “he isn’t” fine with the change. Cody asked Aldis to agree to the new stipulations, and the General Manager reluctantly did. Drew McIntyre then signed the contract, making the new stipulations official for their match.

McIntyre then mentioned Cody’s daughters to rile him up. He then hit Cody with a Claymore kick and gave him a power bomb through the table.
