New trademark filing hints at plans for new WWE event

A new trademark filing could indicate WWE’s plans to launch a new event.

The company recently filed for “WWE’s Triple Crown” and the listing says it’s for the following:

“Production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; a show about professional wrestling; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of wrestling through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of wrestling information.”

This could be for anything including a new pay-per-view, new television show or a WWE Network exclusive show.

There are plans to introduce tiered pricing to the WWE Network with fresh programming so it’s possible that “WWE’s Triple Crown” could end up as a network exclusive event.
