In a chaotic turn of events at NXT Gold Rush, Fallon Henley defeated Zaria to become the new WWE Women’s Speed Champion. The title had been vacated by Sol Ruca due to injury, leading to a tournament that culminated in this high-stakes final on the November 25 broadcast.
Match Recap: Time Limit Drama
The match began with high intensity, as Zaria looked to overpower her opponent early. She locked Henley in a Texas Cloverleaf, but the Fatal Influence member managed to reach the ropes to break the hold. Zaria kept the pressure on, delivering a clothesline from the middle rope before the action spilled to the outside.
The presence of Henley’s stablemates, Jacy Jayne and Lainey Reid, immediately became a factor. After Zaria threw Henley back into the ring, she found herself surrounded by the duo. Zaria managed to punch Reid to the ground, but the distraction allowed Henley to capitalize with a kick to the head after Jayne ducked a strike. Back inside the ring, a sequence saw Zaria attempt to lift Henley onto her shoulders, only for Henley to escape and hit a DDT for a near fall.
Just as the action heated up, the strictly enforced five-minute time limit for Speed matches expired, leaving the match without a winner.
Sudden Death and Controversy
NXT General Manager Ava immediately appeared, declaring that a winner must be crowned and ordering the match to continue in sudden death overtime.
The restart saw Zaria aggressively spear Henley through the ropes to the outside. However, as Zaria charged for another spear, Lainey Reid pulled Henley out of the way, causing Zaria to crash violently into the steel ring steps. Capitalizing on the damage, Henley threw Zaria back into the ring and hit a Shining Wizard. She followed it up with her signature Famouser to secure the pinfall and the championship.
This victory marks Henley’s first reign with the Speed title and adds another accolade to the Fatal Influence faction.
