Heath Slater has been playing up his free agent storyline on WWE TV for the past few weeks, and WWE.com teased last month that he could work in EVOLVE. Slater tried to get a contract with RAW on Monday’s episode of RAW, but he lost to the returning Jinder Mahal in a singles match. Slater will now face Rhyno on next Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, and if Slater wins the match, then he will get a contract with SmackDown.
WWNLive, the parent company of EVOLVE, provided this update on Slater possibly working in EVOLVE in their email newsletter:
“WWE.com reported that Heath Slater was in talks with EVOLVE after becoming a free agent following the WWE draft. We can now confirm that negotiations are at a standstill. Slater is now focused on his match against Rhyno this Tuesday on Smackdown Live on the USA Network. If Slater wins this match, he will be signed to the Smackdown brand.”
EVOLVE has a working relationship with WWE, so it’s very possible that Slater works a match for the promotion.
