Samoa Joe was among the 10 main roster wrestlers to be released by WWE on Thursday. He will have to sit on the sidelines until his 90-day non-compete clause expires, which is July 14th. He won’t be allowed to work for any promotion until that clause is up, but will remain being paid while he figures out his next move.
In February 2020, it was reported that he suffered an injury while filming a commercial for the company, and at the time, it was believed stated Joe hit his head during a bad table break as they were filming a stunt. This came after he suffered a concussion the previous month.
Fightful Select reported that they were told “by talent that word emerged this week Samoa Joe had expressed his desire to wrestle of late, but was not cleared by WWE.”
The possibilities of where he could be headed are endless whether that be an in-ring wrestler or a commentator. Joe may work for AEW, Impact Wrestling, ROH, NJPW, or other promotions. Either way, he’ll be an asset in the next promotion he joins.
