Bray Wyatt will indeed be challenging for the WWE Universal Title at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.
As noted, Wyatt has issued a challenge to Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman for a Hell in a Cell match at this show, according to a local advertisement.
Historically, WWE will send out advertisements anywhere from weeks to months in advance to help boost ticket sales. In many cases, these matches end up being changed. In this instance, the advertisement is legitimate.
Strowman will be challenging the winner of the Universal Title match between Rollins and Strowman that takes place next month at the Clash of Champions PPV event.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted “That’s the absolute plan” regarding Wyatt getting a title shot. Meltzer also wrote the following in today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
“I should point out that usually in this situation it’s just filler to advertise something to sell tickets. This is not the case here. The real plan at this point is for Wyatt to headline the show and challenge for the Universal title.”
Hell in a Cell will happen on Sunday, October 6.
