Back in April, Nia Jax was part of a video stream where she told the story about how she had to go to WWE management because a certain wrestler was hurting Alexa Bliss in matches. Click here for the video stream if you want to hear what Jax said.
At the time, she didn’t mention the name of the wrestler. However, fans had speculated that she was talking about Ronda Rousey.
A second interview conducted by Alex McCarthy of TalkSport with Jax has been released and features Jax addressing the situation. This is where she confirmed that she was talking about Rousey in the live stream.
“Yes, it was Ronda. I do not think she took liberties, I think things happen. And Alexa is very strong, she’s so strong-willed and she doesn’t want to give up. She never wants to be told she can’t do something.
So, for me personally, being such a close friend and seeing that she was trying to fight through this, I felt the need to stand up for her because she wasn’t going to do it for herself.”
Jax continued by noting that Rousey thought in her mind that she was doing something right, but Jax knew it wasn’t going to help her in the long run. Jax noted how they have a strong bond and she always enjoyed working with her in the ring.
Jax brought up how Rousey came in but didn’t get the proper WWE training. Thus, she understands that Rousey had to learn things on the fly and her instinct is MMA fighting. She noted that Rousey’s instinct is to go somewhere different compared to the instincts of WWE stars that tell them to go in the ring if that makes sense.
“And me being somebody who is little bit bigger and a lot stronger than Alexa – not a little bit [laughs], a lot bigger and stronger than Alexa – I definitely knew I’d be able to handle working with Ronda a lot easier than somebody like Alexa just because I can deal with somebody who is stronger a little better than her, let’s just put it that way.”
Jax also talked about 2019 Men’s Royal Rumble appearance and more. You can read the full interview here.
