Nick Aldis Addresses Potential WWE Match

Although Nick Aldis appears on WWE Friday Night SmackDown every week and works as an agent for the company, there is still fans holding out hope he will wrestle again.

Aldis worked for years in TNA Wrestling and NWA. While in the NWA, he was a longtime World Heavyweight Champion and the face of the brand for years.

While appearing on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Aldis was asked whether he said goodbye to his in-ring career when he took the role with WWE as an agent.

“I guess. But I also don’t necessarily see it like that. 100% I see it more as a sort of maybe not a full-time wrestler, but I don’t know. Look, I get asked all the time by everyone except me. I have never once said, ‘hey, what about me?’ Could I wrestle? Because I don’t need to. If and when the time comes, it’ll be what they want, and it will hopefully be the right time. I just told them that if you want to do that, I’m ready.”

Aldis continued when the topic of longevity in his current WWE role was mentioned, “Yeah, I heard [Eric] Bischoff said, and he was very, very kind to me. I heard him, you know, talk about me getting the role and everything. And, you know, he made a great point where he was, like, ‘You could do this for, you know, as long as you want.’ And I do understand that. I’m also 37, you know. So, it’s not like, I’m sitting here going, ‘Oh, thank God,’ I just saw it as, like, this is a good, this is a great opportunity to for as a character. And not to mention the fact that the other job is also provides a great opportunity for longevity also because it’s like I’m getting to contribute behind the scenes. And I’ve worked with a who’s who. I mean, you know, to be in the room in the lead up to WrestleMania, you know, I was in the room sometimes with like, Rock, Hunter, Heyman, Michael Hayes. And it’s just like, I’m getting paid to take a PhD, so I’m very grateful.”
