Nikki Bella: ‘I Knew We Were In A Difficult Spot’ On WWE Survivor Series Card

Nikki Bella challenged Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Championship at WWE Survivor Series in San Diego, California. The singles match took place after the John Cena versus Dominik Mysterio bout and before the men’s WarGames match on the four-match card.

Speaking on the Nikki & Brie Show, Nikki reflected on the high-stakes title match. She stated she understood where her bout was positioned on the show, noting, “I knew where we were at on the card. We were in a difficult spot. I knew we weren’t going to have a lot of time, and we had to tell a specific story.”

Bella was given a key directive from the producers for the match. She said the one thing she was told was, “We need super heelish.” The producers were concerned that if WWE fans had not watched the past few weeks of television, “you would have no idea that I was a heel. They were afraid that I might go out and be a babyface.”

Nikki said the nice thing about the segment was that a video package was shown before the match that highlighted her heel turn. She remembered the direction from the producer, saying, “They were like, ‘We need heel Nikki.’”

Bella then recalled trying to adjust to the heel role after being a babyface for so long. She stated, “I haven’t been heel Nikki since before I broke my neck and I’m like, ‘Damn, I’m doing all these things in the moment live.’ It’s one thing when you’re doing all the live events and you can change things.”

Nikki shared the mindset she employed to prepare for the match, telling herself, “We’re doing bad bitch energy. At the end of the day, it’s all about confidence and when your music hits, you’re going to go out there and have all that confidence. You’re going to be this person and that’ll get you into that moment. Go as slow as you want doing your walk. You own it.”

Stephanie Vaquer was victorious in the match, retaining her WWE Women’s World Title in the victory over Nikki Bella. Vaquer won the championship at Wrestlepalooza earlier this year and has since successfully defended the title against Raquel Rodriguez, IYO SKY, and Nikki Bella.
