Nikki and Brie Bella have been in the wrestling headlines in recent weeks because they are scheduled to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame during WrestleMania weekend.
Nikki has also been in the news recently for another reason. Last month, she sent out a tweet that many fans took as a shot at her ex-fiance John Cena.
However, on the recent Bellas podcast, Nikki said she wanted to set the record straight to let fans know that she was not talking about Cena.
“So, I put out a tweet, and it went like wildfire because there were some people and some headlines that thought I was throwing shade to my ex-fiancé. Which, goodness people, it was not the case,” Nikki said.
Nikki claimed that the reason why she decided to address the rumors is that it’s been talked about on “some legitimate sites” and on Instagram.
She went on to say that she hated “always talking about this” but this has been bothering her especially while she and Brie have been working on their book, which she calls “amazing therapy.”
Nikki added, “I think what kind of sucks is when you have a public relationship, any time I want to post a quote, or I want to share words of wisdom, everyone always thinks I’m talking about him.”
She said she’s not the type to throw shade at anyone and “I don’t always talk about my ex-fiancé, and honestly you guys, I have no reason to throw shade at him.”
“I had a beautiful and loving 6-year relationship with a wonderful man,” she said. “I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what’s best for me.”
Nikki Bella and John Cena called off their engagement in 2018 and the drama unfolded on E!’s “Total Bellas” reality show. She is currently engaged to former Dancing with the Stars dance partner Artem Chigvintsev.
Here is the tweet from February that she was referring to on her podcast:
