Normal WWE touring schedule not expected to return until 2022

2020 has been the year of change for everyone including WWE. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company had to not only shut down running television events with fans in attendance, but also stop touring with its live events.

WWE’s house show business has been on the decline for years. Typically WWE will run both house shows and TV events from Friday through Monday. Because of the pandemic, they used to tape Raw and SmackDown on back-to-back days. WWE has gone back to airing the shows live every week on Monday and Friday nights.

WrestleVotes sent out a tweet today stating that the typical weekend loop that WWE did before the pandemic isn’t expected to return until 2022.

“I’ve been told that the typical weekly live event loop (Friday TV + house shows Sat & Sun + Monday TV) all of which in different locations, won’t return to the WWE schedule until 2022.”

Dave Meltzer noted back in September that WWE was considering cutting back on how many house shows it does even when they’re allowed to run shows with fans again after the COVID-19 pandemic is under control.
