In a historic first, the WWE NXT Tag Team Championships will be defended this Saturday at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (ROW) promotion in Texas City, Texas. The current NXT Tag Team Champions, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, will defend their titles against the ROW team of Terrell and Terrence Hughes (The Command), the sons of WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley.
The major cross-promotional title match was announced by Booker T and his co-host Brad Gilmore on the latest episode of the “Hall of Fame” podcast. “First time in history, the WWE NXT Tag Team Championships will be on the line on Saturday at Reality of Wrestling as Hank and Tank defend against The Command,” Gilmore confirmed.
This match carries extra significance as Hank and Tank are also former Reality of Wrestling Tag Team Champions. Booker T noted they won their first independent championship at his promotion. “Man, it’s amazing. They won their first independent championship at Reality Of Wrestling. We believed in those guys. I’m serious. I believed in them,” Booker T stated.
He spoke about their development, admitting he was tough on Hank Walker early in his career. “When the Hank and Tank first came on scene, especially Hank, hey Walker. Man, I just dogged him. Man, I drove him in the ground every week,” Booker recalled. “And then Tank Ledger came in, and then seemed like something clicked between him and Tank… and then I can see the entertainment value in both of those guys. They are so good together in the ring as well as out of the ring.”
The NXT announcer and ROW founder expressed immense pride in his promotion hosting such a significant match. “This is huge, man. This is huge. This is history making. This is a history making moment for reality wrestling,” he said. The event, “Platinum Presents: Power Shift,” will take place this Saturday at the Walker Texas Lawyer Arena.
