Bobby Roode challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: San Antonio. For those of you wondering, Roode came out with half a dozen women for his entrance. Nakamura came out on some sort of platform that took him to the ringside area. Both men received huge ovations from the San Antonio crowd.
The story of the match was that Nakamura injured his knee after hitting the first Kinshasa on Roode. He hit another Kinshasa and the trainers came out to check on him (note: it was a storyline injury). The officials tried to get the match stopped but Nakamura insisted on continuing with the match. In the meantime, Roode was able to recover and that allowed him to hit a massive looking DDT on Nakamura. Nakamura kicked out and the crowd popped huge while Roode was in shock. Roode locked a half crab on Nakamura and almost forced Nakamura to tap out. Roode hit the second DDT and got the pin to become the new NXT Champion.
Although the hype leading up to this show wasn’t as good as previous Takeover shows, this ended up being a very good show and NXT maintains their streak of good Takeover specials. If you missed it then you should check it out in the On Demand section of WWENetwork.com
