Official details on CM Punk’s return to WWE TV

As most of you know by now, CM Punk is back on WWE TV. He has signed a deal to appear on WWE Backstage on Tuesday nights.

According to the @WWEonFOX Twitter account, Punk will be appearing periodically on the show starting next Tuesday night at 11 pm eastern.

It’s an interesting move because he will be able to talk about the WWE product while not actually working for WWE. Punk will be working for Fox Sports. Punk has said in interviews that he doesn’t want to be a puppet and if he were to make a deal to join the show then he wants to give his honest opinion on the product. It looks like he will have his first opportunity to do that next week.

It was clear last week when they drew just 49,000 viewers that something big needed to happen to shake things up and this was apparently their solution. Next week’s ratings will be interesting for sure.

WWE acknowledged Punk’s role on the show while touting some of his accomplishments out of the ring. As written on “Punk left an unforgettable legacy during his WWE career, including holding the WWE Championship for a remarkable 434 days. Since parting ways with WWE, Punk has gone on to author comic books for Marvel, compete in UFC and, more recently, star in the horror film “Girl on the Third Floor,” released in theaters last month.”

Perhaps, the door is cracked open for Punk to make an in-ring return. Punk has said that he is open to the idea if the right offer comes along.
