WWE has big plans for Becky Lynch as she is expected to be in one of the top matches next year at WrestleMania 36.
As previously noted, the original plan was for her to wrestle Charlotte Flair on that show and they were going to keep them apart but those plans changed and they are now scheduled to wrestle each other at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Lynch’s opponent for Mania 36 is not Stephanie McMahon and it’s not Rousey. However, if Rousey decides to return and if she wants to match then she would likely get the match with Lynch. Rousey has indicated that she does not know what the future holds for her in WWE and she will decide after she has a baby.
There’s still no word on who WWE is considering for Rousey’s opponent but one possibility from the outside is UFC’s Cris Cyborg. For a couple of years, Cyborg has been pitching for WWE to sign her for a big payday and Lynch has acknowledged some of Cyborg’s social media posts about her. Paige VanZant has also said she’s open to doing something with WWE.
Aside from Flair and Rousey, there isn’t anyone on the female roster that would qualify for a main event spot unless they decide to give a serious push to someone like Bayley or Sasha Banks (if she returns to the company).
