The star-studded Greatest Royal Rumble is just a few hours away and most of the roster has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for a show that is going to be very lucrative for WWE.
Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Rey Mysterio and other former WWE Superstars are being flown in for the show. It turns out that WWE tried to get of the all-time greatest to appear but the offer was turned down. On a recent episode of X-Pac 1,2,360, Sean Waltman noted that Shawn Michaels was called for an appearance on the show.
“[There’s] a lot of money being thrown around,” said Waltman. “It’s an insane amount of money being thrown around. I know that this weekend I was in Baltimore and I was with Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash and we were talking about that. They wanted to get Shawn [Michaels], and he was just like, ‘you know what, don’t even bother sending me an offer and trying to tempt me.’ Because there’s huge money offers. And he’s going, ‘I got a thing with one of my kids, and I’m doing that, and that’s all there is to it.'”
You have to give Michaels credit for sticking to his promise to retire after his 2010 match with The Undertaker. These days, he is happy with his gig at the Performance Center and he spends most of his time with his family.
Previously, Michaels was called for a match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33 but he declined that offer.
