One of the lead writers for WWE SmackDown has been released

Chris DeJoseph has been let go by WWE. He was one of the lead writers for SmackDown and had returned to the company in December. There is no word on why he was let go.

Prior to this run, DeJoseph worked on the WWE creative team from 2004 until 2010. He was also featured occasionally as the comedy character Big Dick Johnson.

DeJoseph also worked for Lucha Underground and Major League Wrestling.

The news of DeJoseph being let go was first reported today by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer website. The news of DeJoseph’s release comes just as WWE has begun a new creative direction with Jeff Hardy to play off his history with substance abuse issues. It’s unclear if DeJoseph had a hand in that storyline.
