Opening Segment Revealed For Tonight’s WWE SmackDown

WWE had SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis make a few announcements regarding tonight’s show.

WWE previously announced that the Women’s United States Championship tournament would continue with its opening round as Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Elektra Lopez would take place in a triple threat bout.

Aldis confirmed WrestleVotes’ report that The Motor City Machine Guns vs. The Street Profits for the WWE Tag Team Championships will take place on the show. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will open the show. He is slated to defend his title against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event next Saturday.

As previously reported by PWInsider.com, WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER is slated for tonight’s SmackDown in Minneapolis. There is no word on whether he will be on the broadcast or working a dark match.
