Original plans for Finn Balor’s WWE TV return

Finn Balor has made an impact since making his WWE NXT return.

Balor made his return on the October 2nd episode of WWE NXT in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University on the USA Network where he walked out to the ring and had a staredown with NXT Champion Adam Cole.

Two weeks ago, he turned heel when he attacked Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa that kicked off his next feud.

The belief is that he’ll take on Gargano in a singles match at the NXT TakeOver: WarGames III event that takes place on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while Balor is being advertised on the SmackDown brand shows on the UK tour, the decision has changed and he won’t be on the tour because he’s in NXT.

It was noted that the original plan was for him to be on the SmackDown crew after he lost to Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam before taking time off. The idea was he’d go on his sabbatical and switch to Smackdown on his return.

Once the ratings for NXT started to drop, he was moved to NXT with the idea that his star power could make more of a difference there.
