Original Plans For Goldberg’s Retirement Match

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is preparing for his final match in 2025, which he hopes to have in the summer. This past October, he confronted World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER at Bad Blood. Goldberg last wrestled in 2022, losing to Roman Reigns at the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE.

Goldberg spoke about his plans while being interviewed by Ariel Helwani, noting that the options for his retirement opponent are endless, from Bron Breakker to GUNTHER. Goldberg stated that a match with GUNTHER would be like passing the torch. For more on that, click here.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “The original plan was for his last match to be against GUNTHER, likely after GUNTHER drops the title.” As of this writing, it’s unclear whether those plans are still in place.

GUNTHER is slated to defend the World Heavyweight Title against Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41.
