Original WWE Plans for Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy

The wrestling world continues to remember the late Bray Wyatt, who passed away last Thursday due to a heart attack.

Wyatt had suffered a “series of heart complications” during the last few months of his life, leading to his doctor recommending a heart defibrillator. Unfortunately, he wasn’t wearing it when his body was found when his fiance JoJo Offerman found him at their home as his alarm went off and he didn’t get up.

After returning to WWE last year at Extreme Rules, WWE introduced a new character with him called Uncle Howdy, who was portrayed by Wyatt’s brother, Bo Dallas, real name Taylor Rotunda.

While fans didn’t get to see Howdy wrestle or see him be revealed, WWE had plans to do Howdy vs. Wyatt at WrestleMania at one point.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that plans changed to Wyatt vs. Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39, but when Wyatt went down with COVID-19, plans were scrapped.

Meltzer wrote, “At first the idea was for Wyatt to build to a match with Howdy at WrestleMania, but that plans ended up changing and Howdy was not being pushed at that level, and the character dropped.”

Before Wyatt was pulled from TV, he had also restarted his storyline with Alexa Bliss, but she disappeared from TV after the Royal Rumble and then became pregnant.
