The new Netflix docuseries “WWE: Unreal” has revealed several original plans for this past year’s WrestleMania 41, and one of the most significant scrapped ideas involved a massive role for WWE Hall of Famer, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Scrapped Plans For WrestleMania 41
According to information revealed in the docuseries, the original card for WrestleMania 41 featured a major non-wrestling role for “The Texas Rattlesnake.” The initial lineup included a singles match between Bron Breakker and Drew McIntyre, with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin slated to be the special guest referee for the encounter. This match was one of several major bouts on the original card that were ultimately changed on the road to the event.
Austin’s Stance On A Final Match
While a special referee role was on the table for WrestleMania, the question of Austin having one more match remains a hot topic among WWE fans. Austin addressed his future earlier this year.Â
The reveal of the planned special referee spot shows that WWE is still keen on involving one of its biggest all-time stars in major events. While the plans for WrestleMania 41 were ultimately changed, Austin did appear announcing the WrestleMania attendance.
